PRIMARY COORDINATOR

Dear Parents,

Welcome back everyone for 2021. I hope that you all had a great holiday! A special welcome to all our new students and families who have joined Sirius College for the first time this year. I do hope you have already been able to feel part of our friendly and caring school community. It was wonderful to see the smiling faces of the students again after a challenging 2020. The staff have been working very hard over the past weeks to ensure a very organised and smooth start to the year; I think they have all done a wonderful job.

Uniform

At Sirius College we take pride in our school uniform. Our P.E. (sport) days are only Tuesday and Thursday every week, when students are required to wear their P.E. uniform. On Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, the students should be in full school uniform with black shoes on these days.

Students who are unable to wear the correct uniform at any time, must bring an explanatory note from their parent(s)/guardian(s) to their class teacher at the beginning of the school day. This note should explain why the student could not wear the correct uniform. Students not in correct uniform and without a note on any school day may be excluded from an activity such as sport.

If there is no note, the following consequences will apply:

1st Warning – Parents will be informed through SEQTA DM (DIREQT Message) if students are reprimanded for uniform offences.

If the student is still not in proper uniform (2nd warning) they will be given lunch time detention.

School office will inform parents to pick their child up from school if the uniform offence is repeated consistently (3rd warning).

If your child requires a new hat, they may buy it at the school office for $15.

Anaphylaxis

We have 2 students this year in Yr 1 and Yr 2 who have been diagnosed with anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis is a severe, rapidly progressive allergic reaction that is life threatening. Our classroom teachers will inform parents of a given class about the foods that may cause an allergic reaction if a student is at risk of anaphylaxis and will request that these foods not be placed in their child's school lunchbox. But we also request all parents to not send:

Communication

Our school uses SEQTA Engage, SEQTA Learn and SEQTA DM as our key communication tools and platforms for parents and students. All parents are encouraged to use SEQTA DM to communicate with their child’s teachers, and also regularly check messages sent by teachers. If you are having trouble accessing either of these, please contact our school office. You can also contact Mrs. Ozlem Urhan, our secretary, for reporting an incident or making an appointment with your child’s teacher but please don’t discuss any issues with Ozlem, as it’s not part of her role as the school secretary.

I am looking forward to another extremely successful year with your children, working in partnership with you to support your children’s learning.

Regards,
Mrs. Tarbinder Pandher
